There’s something special about a blues musician who can take the traditions of the blues and make them completely their own — and Rae Melvin does exactly that. Originally from Clinton, Ontario, Rae combines soulful vocals with expressive harmonica playing to create a sound that is deeply rooted in the blues while carrying his own distinctive style and touch.
Rae performs mostly original music, drawing inspiration from legendary artists including Freddie King, Paul Butterfield, and Jerry Garcia. His music has taken him to festival stages and venues throughout Ontario, and his work has been featured on local radio as well as blues-specialized programs.
Rae is currently promoting his new EP, Clinton Junction, which is available now on CD and across streaming platforms. And he's not slowing down — Rae also plays drums with Hamilton-based band Aster Nox, and is featured on a brand-new single, "Blues O' Clock."
What's the future hold for Rae and his band? New music, of course! Rae Melvin and the Felons are currently recording a full-length album which is expected to be released in the Spring of '27.
